New Space and Equipment Expand Capacity and Responsiveness

New Production Space Is Up and Running
Our new 4,000 sf production floor addition went online January 9 following a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Maine Governor Paul LePage and other state and local dignitaries. The addition houses a cell of multi-tasking machines that allows for partially attended operation to enhance flexibility to meet changing customer demands.
The space in the new addition has allowed us to optimize the main floor layout with a focus on customer-oriented "Super Cells" including one that features a new robotically assisted horizontal milling machine and a Zeiss Duramax CMM running QC-Calc SPC software. With QC on the production floor, processes will now benefit from real-time feedback enabling greater control for improved product quality.

New Dual-Pallet Vertical Mill to Increase Flexibility

As part of our ongoing commitment to steady growth and enhanced capabilities, we"ve ordered a new Matsuura ES 800 PC2 high-speed, dual-pallet vertical mill. Vice President of Operations, Harvey Smith, says, "The dual-pallet configuration will allow us to toggle shift-to-shift between long-running parts and short-run and development projects without disrupting throughput." He adds, "It not only expands our overall capacity, it also reduces retooling time between jobs, so we can maximize spindle time." The new mill is scheduled to be up and running by late March.
